A designer
cannot be obssesed about earning money, this will lead him
to forget the essential concepts and hide behind what is fashionable.

will experiment, dream and feel. |
Do not
let anyone make you believe you are without imagination because
this will leave you hanging in a dream world. Attitude, devotion
and their will to dream is waht distinguish genius from the
rest.

 |
You
shall not be vain. |
If you
think ofyourself as special, exotic, even a blessing to mankind
then you don not know yourself. The only difference between
great and little creative acts is the size of the audience.
What counts is what you are able to do regardless of time.

 |
You
shall think without limits within the social and cultural context. |
The design
makes sense it it pursuis a social goal. With its capacity
of symbolic expression it can promote knowledge and questioning
about the problems of society.

 |
You
shall not let a day go by without enganging in the creative process. |
Rituals
can be used to stimulate the creation of ideas. Though following
a ritual can sometimes be too formal and restrictive, appealing
to rituals as a mood changing techinique, it is not only common
but practical as well. Thus, a relaxed attitude can induce
the the cretaive thought.

You
shall not worship Paris, New York or Milan. |
Worrying
about what is hip and what is not is a waste of time for the
creative process. Anyone who has managed to impose himself
by means of his creation has done so in his own terms.

You
shall not be modest. |
Modesty
is the virtue of the insecure. Little ambitions result in
tiny efforts. The mind is not a vessel to be filled but a
fire to be stoked.
|
 |
You
shall design for your own pleasure. |
The
keys to creativity are three: novelty, because the creative
act implies doing something new. Value, that makes people recognize
the creative work. And passion, when we are doing that which
we love we do not think about creativity. We just act. As you
cannot please everyone, it is worthless to do something that
is boring to you.

You
shall not settle for less. |
In the
light of the effectiveness and superficiality that today characterizes
the world of design, it is necessary to clearly define your
concept and to get back to the roots: every design possesses
a communication and functional goal.
